$20.00
Description
Back by popular demand, the modern classic of an LP by Buffalo, NY's BROWN SUGAR receives another pressing! A fan club press of the LP originally on Feral Kid Records has surfaced with the Trademark of Quality, so of course we had to track down copies to make them available to those who have been looking for it.
BROWN SUGAR - Sings of Birds and Racism LP
New York's reigning weird hardcore champs BROWN SUGAR have bestowed an LP upon the world and it's an absolute gem. I generally don't think the LP is a good format for hardcore bands (short attention spans require keeping it short and sweet, hence the 7"), but these guys aren't your usual hardcore band. Listing all the out-of-the-ordinary things going on here is pointless, but it will suffice to say that each of these songs is 100% crazy, catchy, and out of control, yet none of them follow a predictable hardcore structure. The border where one song ends and another begins is often unclear, the pace alternates between super fast and plodding, and quite a few songs feature a saxophone and weird guitar effects. As an aging punk with a low tolerance for the same old shit, this is my kind of record. And if you aren't too afraid to escape your neat little "punk" world, you may just discover that it's your kind of record, too. A must for fans of FLIPPER, the FIX, FEEDERZ, and PISSED JEANS. Highest recommendations.
